Merritts Motor Group

  • Project: Branding and New Website

Merritts motor group are the largest motor dealership in the south of England

The Brief

Create a website that had two very distinct and fundamental roles.

New Visitors – To become a friendly informative first point of contact for potential customers who wished to research a particular car by model or price, new or used, giving them the relevant up-to-date information quickly and easily.

Existing Customers – To give existing customers a range of online services, at a time that was convenient to them, even when the dealership was closed. Online services available included, booking their car in for a service or scheduling a repair.

The Solution

With our help Merritts motor group became one of the first dealerships in the UK to launch an online service booking system which allowed customers to directly book a service for their cars, at a time that suited them on the website.

The system even sent a SMS text message to the owners mobile phone (if they had requested that option) so once the vehicle service was finished they knew exactly when to pick up their car.

The Success

The new online booking service led to higher service booking levels as customers were able to book in their car into a time slot that suited them. This in turn led to an overall improvement in Merritts motor group after sales customer satisfaction levels and also profits as less service slots were cancelled last minute.

The sale of new and used cars through the website went up by over 40% in the first year alone as the sale force were able to track and close deals quicker as most buyers had researched the particular car via the website that they wanted.

The website also won the Motor Trader Aftermarket Award for 2007-2008

The ‘Aftermarket’ Award recognises the best innovations in customer care, marketing and business management designed to generate sales growth and profitability.

The selection process for the Motor Trader Industry Awards is widely regarded as the most rigorous and prestigious in the automotive world.

The Technology

In addition to designing and maintaining the website, we also developed a customised content management system (CMS) that allowed the client to quickly and easily update all the information on the website.

Individual manufacturer data was also directly fed into the used car section in real time so no information was ever out of date which had always been a particular problem with the existing website in the past.

  • Interactive website design
  • Content creation and copy writing
  • Bespoke content management system (CMS)
  • Email marketing functionality
  • Online Booking and Repair Booking Service
  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
