Holy Cow Batman!

DC Entertainment the publisher of the Batman comics is apparently launching legal proceedings against the Spanish La Liga football club Valencia over the redesign of their clubs new badge.

DC Entertainment claims that the Valencia logo is too similar to that of its iconic Batman logo and it has filed a complaint with OHIC - the European Union's trademark registration body - over the logo.

However Valencia have used the bat icon as an integral part of their club crests since 1919, 20-odd years before Batman came into existence (in 1939).

Here at Yellow Hats we think that it’s going to need a lawyer with genuine superpowers to sort this one out!

James Bond 007 replaced by a Hummingbird

Talking about iconic heroes we also see that Ian Fleming Publications, the company that created James Bond 007, has undergone a rebrand, swapping its 007 symbol for a hummingbird to take the brand focus off James Bond and on to the writer’s work as a whole.

The encircled 007 logo is being replaced with a hummingbird, the national bird of Jamaica, with Ian Fleming’s signature. (Fleming was a keen bird watcher, and also grew up in Jamaica). The logo will now appear on the back of books and their title pages.
