Healthcare Innovation Expo

  • Project: Event Branding and Website

The Brief

To create a website for the largest healthcare innovation expo event in Europe and also to become a friendly informative first point of contact for potential visitors. The expo’s aim is to showcase effective innovations that help bring about change, renewal and improvement in the NHS.

The Solution

It was decided early on that the website had to have two very distinct and fundamental roles both for visitors to research a particular product or innovation, and for the exhibitors who could add their content directly to the website to show case their product or service.

Integral to the main website design was the integration of an online booking system allowing potential visitors to book tickets directly on the website.

The Success

The Healthcare Innovation Expo 2014 quickly established itself as the most significant annual health and social care event in the calendar, attracting more NHS commissioners, clinicians, staff, patients, public, voluntary sector organisations, innovators and media than any other healthcare convention.

Over one hundred sponsors were signed up and each could manage their own section of the website via the internal CMS to promote themselves directly. The website also successfully helped promote a range of fringe events on the day highlighting some of the smaller yet brightest healthcare innovators, start-ups, entrepreneurs, bloggers and technologies.

The use of social media helped drive traffic directly to the online booking system which meant that there was a high demand for initial ticket sales. Eventually it was decided to add another day to the event.

It was essential that a mobile website was developed as a growing number of people wanted to access the website via their mobile phone or a tablet. Over the days of the event visitors were encouraged to access relevant event information that was updated daily directly to their mobile phone.

Due to the massive success of the event in 2013  the website has been now been refreshed and in 2014 it will be re-launched with NHS England as the host.

The Technology

In addition to designing, maintaining and hosting the website, we also developed a customised content management system (CMS) that allowed the client to quickly and easily update all the information on the website.
